Cupcakes

It's the best attitude in life J

Whilst these cupcakes may not be edible I still think they're cute

That's OPI What's With The Cattitude? for the base colour. I must admit I bought this colour purely for the name but it's really lovely. The only problem I had with it was that it's kinda sheer; it took 4 coats before it covered my nail line, worth the effort though in my opinion.

The cupcakes are from Bundle Monster plate BM14. My Konad SP White has almost ran out so it was hard to get enough polish on the plate fast enough so some of them went on with only the cake case transferring onto my nail, as if someone had already scoffed them heehee. A dotting tool and some white nail varnish fixed that. The cake cases are Konad SP Red but look brown on top of the blue.

The cherries on top are red rhinestones from Viva La Nails. I'm really into rhinestones at the moment in fact I just ordered some new colours. I find them easy to apply and they really jazz up an otherwise 'normal' design.

Can I ask your opinion? Does anyone know if there's a difference between the Konad Special Polishes and the Princess Polishes? When I went to buy a new bottle of white I notice that both kinds are the same price but Special Polishes come in 10ml and Princess Polishes are 12ml so they're slightly better value. What are your experiences with them?

Pink Polka Dots

Pink polka dots! Simple and sweet.

It's Avon's Nailwear Pro Enamel in Viva Pink with polka dots from Konad plate M79 with Barry M Matt White. The Barry M didn't work very well for Konading so I had to go over it again with a dotting tool.

The bracelet is one my mam bought me from New Look, thanks mam!I love polka dots! I have no idea why it's taken me this long to do this design!

Purple Shininess

My favourite colour changes on a day to day basis. Today my favourite colour is purple.

I've been having a play with the Diamond Cosmetics nail varnishes that I got from Another Bottle of Polish and Pelican Peak Purple is my favourite.

That's Pelican Peak Purple for the base colour and designs from a fauxnad plate I got off EBay in OPI's Funky Dunkey. The purple rhinestones are from Viva La Nails and they're so bright in real life; they seem to glow they're so shiny!

Close-up of thumb:

What's your favourite colour today?

Thank You!

ANOTHER?! Bottle of Polish held a giveaway for her birthday; yep the lovely lady gave away gifts when it was her birthday! I was one of the lucky winners :)

This is what I won. Four Diamond Cosmetics Varnishes

 Aren't they pretty?

Monster Nails

Have you seen these nails from Nihrida's Blog? I decided to copy them. Well sort of I wasn't actually going to do that to my nails.

They didn't work as well as I'd hoped. I think I'll do them again for Halloween but in green and black so they look more monster-y.

Here they are badly photoshopped, I got bored after two fingers.

Cobalt Blue Butterflies

I got Barry M Cobalt blue a few weeks ago but I haven't had a chance to use it yet. Actually I might be lying there I think it's one of the many colours in this mani here. So I decided today was going to be the day I used it properly.

It was glossy and lovely, full coverage in almost one coat. To add some interest I added once of the water decal butterflies from my Viva La Diva pack.

This was my first go at using water decals and I love them! So easy to use, just dunk your design in water and stick it on with plenty of time to reposition if you're not happy with it. One it's on you can't see the edges at all which is one of my pet peeves of nail stickers.

Liquid Leather Stars

This was my first manicure with my Viva La Diva stuff. It's a base colour of China Glaze Liquid Leather (I love this nail varnish but its name makes me cringe,) star design from Bundle Monster plate BM21 in China Glaze Millennium and Dazzlings (I think that's what they're called) from Viva La Diva.

This is a quick photo I took before I added the dazzlings and before clean up as well

The dazzling did not like my Seche Vite topcoat the colour started coming off and bleeding into the surrounding varnish. I checked the website and it says they "work best on extensions using gel or acrylic techniques" so I think I was using them wrong. I'll have to have a play about with them to find out how best to use them on natual nails because acrylics are not my thing.

Turquoise Ming

Once upon a time this was my favourite nail varnish, it's a Miss Sporty called Hypnotic Turquoise, this bottle is about 2 years old and it has not aged well. I tried to rescue it with Seche Restore but it's just not the same. Actually I'm not sure why I bothered since I can just pick up a new bottle for £1.99 in Superdrug but every penny counts and all that.

So Hypnotic Turquoise on its own

I tried to jazz it up a bit with GOSH Rainbow and this is the resulting ming

The photos don't do it justice I can assure you it was much, much worse in real life.

Chanel Nails

I'm sure this has been done before but here's my take on this promo image

Not my picture, found on Google images.

I used China Glaze 2030 for the base colour and China Glaze Liquid Leather for the tips. I tried using hole reinforces to paint the tips on but only managed about two nails with this before I got sick of the hassle, the rest were done freehand.

How gorgeous is 2030 in the sun? I love it.

Some Bad Pictures

Before I started blogging I still liked to keep record of my manicures but didn't take nice pictures of them. So here's a group of some bad pictures taken with my mobile phone.

Look how long my nails were in the first two pics! (bottom left) It was about a day after the grey leopard mani one of my nails snapped so the rest of them were cut to match. I hate it when my nails are uneven.

England vs USA

This wasn't supposed to be a football manicure at all, it was going to be polka dots. I painted my nails red this morning, I was going to Konad them when I got back from shopping but I guess I got caught world cup fever in the meantime ;)

The idea isn't my own; I stole part of it from My Nail Polish Addiction
And the England cup is from Tesco

The flag was done with a base colour of H&M Red Nail. The cross was done by blocking out the cross with sellotape and doing the rest with Barry M Matt White. I must say I'm surprised this worked. If I was going to do this mani in the first place I would have done white first, then red but actually the Matt White covered the red in just two coats, I'm impressed!

Lace Hold Ups

First I started with a base colour of Leighton Denny Brief Encounter

I love the colour it's a very pale taupe/nude with a subtle shimmer to it. Very fast drying and I had full coverage with just two coats.

I konaded the lace and hold up from Konad M57 in Konad SP White
It's a shame it covered up the shimmer from Brief Encounter. I know Leighton Denny wouldn't approve I've heard he doesn't like nail art but I think it's pretty.

My thumb looks huge in these pictures. It's not that big in real life, really!

Cherry Print

This was my first go at stamping tips. It was much more difficult than I thought! I have skinny nails and they're rather curved so I had to roll the image to make it go over the entire nail and smudged it Every. Single. Time. Pah

Although it doesn't look that bad with it being subtle colours.

The base colour is Barry M Lemon Ice Cream. It's more bright yellow than lemon and took a good three coats before it stopped looking remotely patchy. In fact if I was wearing it alone it would have needed a fourth coat to look perfect. The drying time isn't too bad, especially with a layer of Seche Vite as well.

The tips are from Bundle Monster BM17 done in Konad SP White. The cherries are from a fauxnad plate I got from eBay done in Konad SP Red and Konad Princess Polish Deep Jungle.

Hello Kitty

I do love a bit of Hello Kitty.

Hello
Kitty!

I started with a base colour of Nails Inc's warwick avenue which took about 5 coats to cover my nail line. I was surprised how translucent it was because it looks a lot thicker in the bottle.

Hello Kitty was stamped on in Konad SP in white and her bows were filled in using a dotting tool and Nails Inc's beaumont street.

A Rhinestone was added to embellish her bow on my thumbs and index fingers.

Groovy Baby!

This was my first attempt at water marbling. In retrospect I think I was over ambitious. I used too many colours together so the polish on my nails looks chunky and there is some bubbling. I still think it looks rather groovy though ;)

Left hand

Right hand

My thumb nail on my left hand looks most like what I wanted it to. I think I'll leave it a while before I try marbling again. Next time it'll be with fewer colours this one was so thick it took about 30 minutes to dry even with a fast dry top coat!

Peace & Love

Bella’s Choice NOTD

This is the manicure I'm wearing right now. I love H&M nail varnishes and wanted this one from the moment I saw it but convince myself I didn't need it because it was very similar to my Barry M Turquoise. Well I lasted about a week before I ran back to the shop and bought it. It's actually a lot greener than the Barry M one and it's perfect for summer.

The gold is China Glaze Khrome 2030 and I used masking tape to make the triangle shapes.

I wasn't as neat as I wanted it to be but I think it still looks good. I think it would look awesome with a tan but as I never tan I guess I'll never know for sure.
It looks better in real life, the little smudges and 'not quite straight' lines aren't as noticeable.

OPI Done Out in Deco Bows

I wore this dress last Sunday and I wanted my nails to complement it.

Image copied from Next.co.uk

I went for OPI's Done out in Deco for my base colour and added bows the Konad M59 to match the ones on the dress. I know you can't see the bows on the dress very well in that picture but they're actually a really good match; they have the same polka dots and everything!

This is after a few days wear so it does look a bit rough round the edges but tip wear wasn't too bad with this polish.
It's a shame the bows did fit fully on my fingers but I think it looks alright and they did just about fit my thumb nail.

I think this manicure looked really cute. I love the formula of this polish it's quite thin which makes it easy to apply but it was still opaque in two coats despite its thinness.
